The Artist
Marlene Walsh, painter and poet has painted all of her life. She studied with
Tom Parrish at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Association in Michigan. She has
a unique approach to painting. First she listens to a piece of music of choice.
For example, she painted a painting, titled "Holy Ground." Wherein she chose
the CD, "Britten Four Sea Interludes." She will listen to the whole CD before
starting a painting. Then she will start the CD over and begin to paint.
She is ambidextrous using two or three brushes in each hand. What she hears
in the music she paints on the canvas. Her medium is oil.
In 1996 she exhibited her first solo show at the Cunniff Gallery in Lake Orion, Michigan.
She also has displayed her work at the following locations:
Michigan Design Center
Hermitage Gallery in Rochester, Michigan
Clarkston Fine Arts Gallery, Clarkston, Michigan
Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in Troy, Michigan
The Leather Center in Birmingham, Michigan
The Local Scene, Rochester, Michigan
The Wired Cyber Café, Rochester, Michigan
The Coffee Beanery, Rochester, Michigan

In the interest of sharing traditions she has thirty-one paintings in the
Shandong Province of China.
